About the event

Monica-Shanta Performing Plaiting

To open the weekend's activities artist Monica-Shanta will be integrating herself into the exhibition's installation ‘Death is a Place’. There will be a very special one-off live performing of plaiting in the chapel, both ritual and endurance. This will be taking place as the exhibition opens at 10am on Saturday 27th September.

‘Death turned to sand in my hands, escaping through my fingers. There is no death’. Monica-Shanta’s Death is a Place is a large installation and performance contemplating, the artist says, ‘the universal transcendent nature of death, culturally specific traditions and responses to death, as well as historical instances of genocide.’ Part of Resonances of Being, a group exhibition inspired by Pamela Colman Smith.

The group exhibition is open to the general public from 10-4pm on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September. Free entry (no booking required).  What do I need to know?
