Hire our space
Trevow Chapel
Our chapel is available to hire for creative work. If you’re a maker, a group, a company, a teacher, a gatherer — and you need a characterful space to do something creative in — we’d love to hear from you.
A creative space, in the broadest sense. Trevow Chapel is a creative space. We welcome activity that is creative in the broadest sense — making, performing, writing, rehearsing, sharing, gathering around ideas, exploring, experimenting.
If your booking fits that spirit, we’d love to hear from you. If you’re not sure, get in touch and ask. We’re friendly.
Your activity, your way
When you hire the chapel, the activity you're running is yours. Your vision, your participants, your voice. We call these external events — and we love that the chapel gets to host them.
It’s a gentle distinction from the events we programme ourselves. When Trevow puts something on, we curate it, produce it, and stand behind it. When you hire the chapel, you’re in the driving seat — and we’re here to help the space work for you.
If you’d love your event to be part of the Trevow programme rather than an external hire, we’d be glad to hear from you. Drop us a line at hello@trevowhelston.co.uk and tell us what you’re imagining.
The space
Trevow Chapel is a converted cemetery chapel on Meneage Road, Helston. It was boarded up for six years before we took it on. It has good light, high ceilings, wooden pews, a quiet atmosphere, and the kind of character that’s hard to find in a conventional function room - it also has some quirks!
The chapel comfortably seats around 80 on the pews in a theatre layout. Pews can be pushed back to create a flat floor space.
Level access from the tarmac path into the side door. Wheelchair space inside. We currently use an accessible portaloo for events — full toilet facilities are in development.

Hire rates
We offer two rates — a community rate for creative groups, individual artists, and educational use, and a standard rate for subsidised arts organisations and commercial creative use. If you’re not sure which applies to you, just ask.

How it works
1. Submit a booking request
Fill out our short booking form. It takes about 5 minutes.
2. We’ll be in touch
We aim to respond within five working days. We’ll confirm availability, talk through anything we need to talk through, and send you an invoice (and a copy of your booking form).
3. Pay for your booking
We like payment upfront, and made online if possible but if you’d like to pay with cash on the day that’s fine.
4. Arrival
For first-time hirers, we’ll meet you at the chapel and hand over keys. For returning hirers, we have a lockbox with a code so that you can start letting yourself in and out.
FAQs
Can I sell tickets to an event at the chapel?
Yes, absolutely. Many of the events we programme ourselves are ticketed. You’ll handle your own ticketing (Eventbrite, TicketSource, WeGotTickets or similar). Our website listing will link out to wherever you’re selling tickets.
Will you help me market my event?
We’ll list it on our What’s On page (tagged as an external event), share a post from our social media around your announcement, and include it in the next monthly newsletter. Beyond that, the marketing is where your event really takes shape — and that’s the bit you’ll want to own.
Will my event appear alongside Trevow’s own programme?
Yes — on the same What’s On page, but clearly marked as an external event so audiences know what they’re booking into. The booking link on your listing goes to you, not to us.
Could my event become part of Trevow’s programme instead?
Possibly! If you think what you’re planning feels more like a Trevow-programmed event than an external hire, we’d love to hear from you. Drop us a line at hello@trevowhelston.co.uk and tell us about it.
Can I serve food and drink?
Yes. If you’re running a workshop or gathering, you’re welcome to bring food and drink, including a modest amount of alcohol. If alcohol is more central to your event (a launch with a bar, say), you’ll need a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) from Cornwall Council — we can point you in the right direction.
Can I hire the chapel for a private party?
We don’t host private parties — birthdays, anniversaries and the like. This isn’t about being unwelcoming; it’s about keeping the chapel a space for creative and community work, which is what Trevow Helston CIC exists to support.
Can I hire the chapel for a wedding?
Not currently. We’re a creative venue, not a licensed wedding venue.
Can I hire the chapel regularly — weekly or monthly?
Quite possibly. Please mention this in your booking request and we’ll work out a sensible arrangement. We will want to keep all regular bookings flexible so that if an exciting opportunity arrives we can still programme it into our space.
What about amplified sound and neighbours?
Acoustic and moderately amplified sound is fine during session hours. Our neighbours are quite a long way away and very lovely!
Is the chapel accessible?
There is level access from the tarmac path into the side door. There is space inside for wheelchairs. Seating is on pews, with additional chairs available. We currently use an accessible portaloo for events — we’ll update this page when that changes. If we can support your event in any other way, please let us know.
What if I need to cancel?
Don’t worry, sometimes things don’t go according to plan. We’re here to support you, not make things hard. If you need to cancel that’s ok.
Can I come and see the space first?
Yes. Drop us a line and we’ll arrange a time.
